Tom performs in Stuttgart, Baden-Wuerttemberg
An American Clown in Southern Germany
Clown Tom Bolton comes from America. But he’s well known in his adopted city of Stuttgart. That’s the capital of the region of Baden-Württemberg in southern-western Germany. Clown Tom performs his unique style of entertainment throughout Europe and world-wide. But the majority of his engagements are regional.
One website about Stuttgart even termed him „a living legend“ as most people in the area have enjoyed his show at one time or another. Many come to see him again and again. Tom started his career as a street performer. Now he mostly does paying gigs for festivals, company events, weddings and birthday parties. Occasional he will still do a show on the Stuttgart Schlossplatz. This is good publicity and keeps his performing sharp. It also adds to the cultural life of the city.
Tom didn’t actually move to Stuttgart until 2000. His first performances there took place in 1984. Tom often hears from parents in Stuttgart that they wanted their children to get to see the great clown that they themselves fondly remember from their own childhood. Tom’s versatility and experience have made him the most popular clown in Stuttgart and the surrounding region.
Works throughout Europe and world-wide
Tom loves to travel and present his show in diverse settings. But of course it is a lot less effort to do a local gig than having to travel long distances. In late 2014, for example, Tom did a one day gig in Kuwait. It was a fantastic experience but also took 2 additional days of traveling. The big advantage of nearby gigs is that Tom can drive and take along his full selection of props. These include his case full of juggling and magic props. Also gags, unciycles, sound-system and special baby carriage for walk-around entertainment at events with children. Add to it, extra costumes and even a lighting system if needed.
Tom’s professional and prepared for every situation. For jobs that require flights or train rides, the customers need to be very specific in their needs. So can Tom choose what to bring along. For a detailed and humorous report of a typical gig goes check out Performance Story

Performances throughout the Stuttgart region
Some of the cities in the greater Stuttgart area where Tom has often exhibited his artistic abilities include: Tübingen, Reutlingen, Backnang, and Ludwigsburg. Esslingen, Böblingen, Sindelfingen, Filderstadt and Ostfildern Leonberg, Leinfelden-Echterdingen, Fellbach, Kornwestheim and Ditzingen. Gerlingen, Waiblingen, Winnenden, Schorndorf and Remshalden. Herrenberg, Rottenburg, Kirchheim Teck, Holzgerlingen and Gärtringen. Marbach, Nürtingen, Bietigheim-Bissingen, Heilbronn and Korntal-Münchingen. Metzingen, Wendlingen, Plochingen and Schwäbisch Gmünd. Lorch, Göppingen and Vaihingen Enz.
Such places are given a special consideration meaning minimal, if any travel cost. Also the possibility that Tom will give a special price for very small events that are close enough. This works if Tom can combine multiple gigs on highly requested days, like weekend days in summer. For example, a festival in Munich or Frankfurt might pay 800 Euros for a day. But it also cost 5 or 6 hours of driving.
A summer festival by say a sports club in Ludwigsburg might last just a couple of hours and only pay 500 Euros. But there might still be the time to easily drive to Esslingen for a wedding on the same evening for an additional 500 Euros. Such a scenario can mean that Tom has less time traveling and performing. Yet he can earn more for the day, while giving both clients a reduced price.
Wide experience in German speaking regions of Europe
Though a bit farther away, Tom has often drives to gigs in the following cities: Karlsruhe, Baden-Baden, Konstanz or Mannheim. Heidelberg, Mainz, Wiesbaden, Ulm, Augsburg or Lindau. Nuremberg, Freiberg, Singen, Friedrichshafen or Worms. Aschaffenburg, Saarbrücken, Trier, Koblenz, Würzburg or Regensburg.
While Tom has performed numerous times at the Bodensee in southern Germany, he occasionally gets down to Switzerland. He enjoyed playing in places like: Zürich, Luzern and Zug. Winterthur, Schaffhausen, Basel and Bern. Lausanne, Geneva, Chur and St. Gallen. Tom is also familar with Vaduz, Liechtenstein and many places in Austria like: Salzburg, Vienna and Innsbruck. Feldkirch, Bregenz, Bludenz, Graz, Villach and Linz. If you have an event and the money for top entertainment, he’s likely to come.
But Tom also loves to go north. He often played in Kiel for the Kieler Woche Festival as well as in small towns along the Baltic seas in additon to the bigger cities of Hamburg, Bremen, Lübeck, Flensburg, and Westerland. Tom not only performs and lives in Stuttgart but he is involved with the community as well. He often contributes to an internet forum for people immigrating to Germany. He gladly gives advices and tips also for tourists just visiting Stuttgart and/or Germany.
